I'm going to start going by the Chinese New Year because 1 the food is yummy and 2 it would mean a better start to the year for me hehe... HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
you guys haven't just lived it! It's a night for the family really, but as a "laowei" (that's foreigner to you lot!) here, it's a night of parties!
the smoke is incredible too... why you ask?... the fireworks! You can buy a box of fireworks here the size of a drinks crate (you lot remember the "pop man" that used to come round as a kid? ) that size... and it's the equivalent of about £3! needless to say the fircrackers are rather spectacular too!
All a good crack though.
oh, and ken, it's xin nian kuai le, which is "happy new year", or kong xie fa tai, which is "where's my present"!... in mandarin anyway! Buggered if i know in cantonese!

My wife's a native Cantonese speaker, so I just go with what she tells me.
Here's how to attract attention in Hong Kong, this is one of our "Chinese" wedding photo's, I can say high temps and humidty isn't the place for a kilt !
