A guide to current car recalls
Following car recalls by Honda, Toyota, Citroen and Peugeot, here's a list of affected manufacturers and official advice.
Honda faulty airbags: multiple models
Honda has issued another safety recall after it announced 437,000 of its cars must be checked for a problem with their airbags.
The airbags could possibly overinflate and burst, showering the car's occupants with shards of deadly metal.
So far, no vehicles in the UK have suffered from this problem as all known defects relate to the USA, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, Australia and Japan.
The models related to this are the Civic, Accord and CR-V, all made between 2001 and 2002.
Honda faulty window switches: Jazz
Honda has recalled over 170,000 Jazz superminis in the UK due to faulty window switches.
In a worst-case scenario, the switch can catch fire when put in contact with liquid. Cars built in Swindon are not affected.
Official advice: Owners of 2001 - 2008 Jazz models will be contacted for checks. A simple fix is available and Honda has a specific 'recall' section on its website so you can check your car.

Toyota 'sticky' accelerators: multiple models
Toyota has confirmed 180,865 vehicles across the UK are the subject of its accelerator pedal safety recall.
Models affected:
Aygo (Feb 2005 - Aug 2009);
Corolla (Oct 2006 - Dec 2009);
iQ (Nov 2008 - Nov 2009);
Verso (Feb 2009 - 5 Jan 2010);
Yaris (Nov 2005 - Sep 2009);
Avensis (Nov 2008 - Dec 2009);
Auris (Oct 2006 - 5 Jan 2010);
RAV4 (Nov 2005 - Nov 2009)
Official advice: Toyota is collating registration details from the DVLA of the cars it knows are affected, and will contact owners directly to have their vehicles fixed.
Toyota faulty brakes: Prius
Toyota has also recalled 436,000 of its new Prius hybrid models worldwide, with 8,500 cars in the UK. (Prius 3, June 2009 - January 2010)
The recall is to rectify a potential problem with the brake pedal on bumpy roads and in cold weather.
Official advice: Toyota will contact all owners affected by this recall, which is for cars built up to the end of January 2010.

Citroen and Peugeot 'sticky' accelerators: multiple models
A potential weakness of global car manufacturing has been exposed by the news that Peugeot and Citroen - whose 107 and C1 models form a single platform trio with the Toyota Aygo - have also been affected by the faulty accelerator pedal.
Citroen
Model affected: C1
Official advice: According to Citroen, only 36 cars will be recalled within the next month in the UK because only petrol versions with ESP fitted are affected.
